The Challenge
The development involved construction of an extension to a long-established shopping centre in Shannon Town. It included thirty new retail units, a new multi-storey car park, a new town plaza and the upgrading of the existing centre. While the shopping centre was being developed by a separate company, our client was purchasing the completed development.
McCarthy & Associates were appointed to ensure that the development was constructed in compliance with the agreed drawings and specification. Along with this, our brief was to ensure that the alterations and remedial work to existing units, along with the fit-out of the thirty retail units, was carried out in compliance with current building regulations and to the high standard agreed with the client.
Solution
To ensure compliance with the agreed specification, McCarthy & Associates worked closely with the development company during the construction of the centre and visited the site on an ongoing basis. This included meeting with the development team on-site and closely monitoring the ongoing construction process. Continuous reporting of site progress was provided to the client throughout the construction period.
Outcome
The development was completed successfully in compliance with the drawings and specification and fitted out to the high standard demanded by a modern shopping centre. Additional phases of the development were subsequently entered into and purchased by our client, and monitored on their behalf by McCarthy & Associates.
